You don't have to lament (too much) that summer is coming to a close! Late summer and fall are great times of the year to replant those cole crops. Cole crops are vegetables that prefer the cool season weather. So as your tomato plants are finishing up and you've picked the last of the zucchini, get ready for some exciting new vegetables that grow quickly from seed and are ready to harvest in no time, flat! We have a whole fresh new assortment just in!
Choose from: beans, beets, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, collards, kale, kohlrabi, lettuce, onion, peas, mustard greens, radish, spinach, swiss chard, and turnips. And don't forget the herbs that don't mind the cooler temperatures like: chives, cilantro, dill, oregano, parsley, sage, and thyme!
So get the garden ready for its second shift! (or re-use some containers you had flowers growing in). Remove old plants and rake out any fallen leaf matter. Replenish the earth in your garden with a little Long Island Compost Organic Compost ($4.99 1 cu.ft.bag) and perhaps a small of amount of Agway Organic Compost Cow Manure ($5.99/bag). Till that all in and you're ready to go! Drop in the seed and keep moist until germination! Enjoy your bountiful harvest!
